Bambi-Editor is an open-source, Java-based image editing and processing software released on SourceForge. It was designed primarily to help users edit images and provide website owners with a tool for users to crop and upload custom images directly to their web accounts.

The software is primarily split into two build variations, along with its unique naming origin and key capabilities: Two Build Versions:

Desktop Edition: A downloadable software designed for regular users to load, edit, apply filters, and save images locally to their computers.

Web Start Edition: A Java Web Start (JWS/JNLP) version meant for web developers and website owners to embed directly into their websites to allow end-users to crop, scale, and upload images to their online profiles.

Naming Origin: The creator of the software—a Polish developer living in the United States—named the project after a nickname (“Sarenka,” meaning “fawn” in Polish) affectionately given to his daughter. Eventually, this translated to “Bambi”. Key Features:

Features a plug-in architecture designed to be easily extensible.

Includes built-in webcam support for snapping photos directly in the program.

Offers various image transformation filters (cropping, filters, scaling).

Supports industry-strength encryption and authentication capabilities (RSA, MD5, SHA).

You can check out the source code, try the live demo, and download the software via the official Bambi-Editor SourceForge Repository.
